Kites

“Look up!” There is a Chinese dragon circling in the wind. A 90 feet long single-line, shaped like a squeaky octopus is waving back and forth high up in the sky and right next to it is something that looks like a scuba diver exploring a different kind of blue ocean.

Kites have been around for thousands of years. They are a part of many different cultures making skies around the world come alive. While the forces on all kites are the same, each kite tends to fly a little differently. Some kites are highly maneuverable and some are more stable. There are power kites with multiple control lines that can perform stunts, while others prefer the higher altitudes. A wide variety of kite kits and kite accessories are available at department, hobby, and toy stores or can be ordered on-line. There are even kits that let you design and build your own flyer.

Single line kites are great for kids and beginners and come in many different shapes, colors and sizes. They are simple to control, easy to transport and are a great way to get into the sport of kite flying. High performance competition kites are more for experienced pilots.

Pirate ship, daredevil airplane, paradise island bird, clownfish, boxed or a simple delta shape with colorful panes, every kite will bring many hours of quality fun. With or without a tail, they are a great gift for an adventurous child or adult in search of a new hobby.
